Airport Officer at Karlstad Airport

Karlstad Airport is Värmland's largest airport, owned by Karlstad Municipality and Region Värmland. Currently, about 35 employees work here. Our goal is to offer the region well-adapted air traffic, both for businesses and private individuals, with a good range of scheduled and charter flights. Karlstad Airport has been designated as an emergency airport by the government, which means that we are on standby 24/7, every day of the year, to open the airport for essential traffic.

Description

Karlstad Airport is an important part of the region's infrastructure, and we work daily to deliver the highest level of flight safety, security, and service to our travelers.

We are now looking for two Airport Officers for the airport's operations unit. The role is development-oriented, varied, and you will contribute to both the daily operations of the airport and its future development.

Responsibilities

As an Airport Officer, you will be part of the airport's fire and rescue team as an airport firefighter. You will also participate in field maintenance work where you will plow, sweep, and blow snow during winter. In summer, you will mow grass and clear brush. Around aircraft, you will perform services requested by airlines, such as loading/unloading luggage, cleaning aircraft, refueling, and de-icing. Since the role operates in a regulated security environment, there are high demands for personal safety awareness, which means it is crucial to report deviations and contribute to continuous improvements in operations. As an Airport Officer, you will work closely with colleagues and external actors to ensure smooth processes.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is responsible and solution-oriented. You take initiative, see what needs to be done, and work carefully with safety as the highest priority. The role requires you to adapt to different situations and enjoy varied work where you sometimes work independently and sometimes with colleagues. Clear communication and a problem-solving approach are prerequisites for success in the role. You have a professional demeanor in all contacts, both internally and externally.

The position involves shift work, which means early mornings, late evenings, and weekend work. On-call duty during nights and weekends is part of the role. To thrive with us, you need to appreciate an active job where you work both indoors and outdoors year-round, regardless of weather conditions.

We are looking for someone with a high school education. The job requires you to have Swedish citizenship and a B driver's license. It is advantageous if you have experience working at an airport as an Airport Officer or in a similar role or experience in rescue or security services. It is also advantageous if you have a C driver's license, forklift certification, and machine experience.

Other

During the recruitment process, health checks and strength, stress, and fitness tests for airport firefighters will be conducted. The position is subject to background checks according to the Security Protection Ordinance § 14. We place great emphasis on personal qualities. A probationary period applies.
